What is this about?

Stories We Tell Ourselves is a student-led art campaign that addresses the stigma around suicide and mental health. The intention of this campaign is to give students a safe space to express their feelings around these issues and encourage each other that the issues of suicide and mental health are nothing to be ashamed about!

Who is this for?

Any student in grades 6-12 attending a public school in Douglas County.

Visual Art

Entries for visual art can include sketches, drawings, digital designs, paintings and other visual works of art.

Spoken Word

Entries for spoken word can include poetry and short stories. These can be submitted as writings or recorded audio\video.

The 988 Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States.

Together we can address the stigma around suicide and mental health, and change the narrative so everyone can feel comfortable speaking up about their challenges!

Entries should be received by September 30th.
